Inland Taipan 4

Inland Taipan

Location

The Inland Taipan snake can be found in Queensland, the central area of Australia. This snake has adapted to the harsh climate of the Outback by drastically changing colors seasonally. In the summer it has a lighter sandy color and in the winter takes on an almost black color.

Diet

The diet of the Taipan consists of rats and small mammals found on the plains. The venom which this snake is so famous for is injected into it’s prey and refers the animal ready for consumption.

Life Span

In the outback, a good year of small mammals running around, means that more small Taipan’s will be slithering around too. With a year of surplus food, female snakes will lay more eggs. In general they will lay anywhere from 12 to 20 eggs each year. Soon after laying her beautiful miracles of life, the mother quickly abandons them in a hole and goes.

Blue ringed octopuses are a deep brown to gold until antagonized then flashing the trademark of the bright iridescent blue rings as a warning or aposematic response to perceived danger. The Motote Blue Ring will flash its colors as a pale white and brown striped warning sign with only two visible blue spots on either side of the head.

Deadliness

The Inland Taipan is the most obvious of these deadly animals because of course a snake can kill you. This snake is considered one of the most deadly in continent. Which for Australia is very impressive. It’s venom comes from an obvious place; it’s mouth.

But that is where it stops being straight forward. The venom had many parts of it which makes it deadly. The worst part of the effects comes from the presynaptic neurotoxins contains within it. This is what causes paralysis in the area around the bite. Then there are the procoagulants toxins which prevents blood clots to form at the injected area and it won’t stop bleeding. This is a major problem for the victim. These are all common and if help is found right away, is treatable. Being bitten by a Taipan snake does not mean instant death, but if help is not found then that would mean real trouble.

One part of the venom which is not common, but is possible comes from the toxin of myolysis which could cause muscle damage. And also an uncommon side effect is kidney failure caused by the venom, though it is unclear what toxin causes this.

While these possible effects sound scary, they are fairly uncommon to occur and the more common effects should be taken care of. While the inability to seal the wound with blood clots leaves the body open to infection, and infection onto of the effect of the toxins would be very harmful.

This is not a snake you want to mess with.
